Ahmedabad: From 41.9°C recorded on Saturday, the mercury came a couple of notches down to 40°C on Sunday, which was closer to the normal temperature. On the other hand, the minimum temperature remained high at 26.9 degrees, which was 2.6 degrees higher than normal. According to India meteorological department (IMD) forecast, the maximum temperature on Monday is likely to be around 40 degrees.The state forecast indicated no large change in maximum temperatures during the next seven days. Maximum temperature is likely to be in the range of 40°C in isolated pockets of the state, it added.On Sunday, some parts of the state in South Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra experienced light showers. Light showers are expected in parts of Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli and Bhavnagar on Tuesday and Wednesday.At 40.9°C, Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature, followed by 40°C in Ahmedabad, 39.5°C in Gandhinagar and Surendranagar, among others.
