Frustrated citizens highlighted a glaring disparity: while the surrounding neighbourhood grappled with pitch-black conditions and exhausted candle stocks, the BEST residential quarter continued to enjoy uninterrupted electricity, a consumer said.The misery was compounded as the crisis widened across the city. Outages struck parts of Mumbai Central and Byculla at 7 pm, amplifying civic anxiety. BEST officials stated that repair work was underway and restoration would be done at the earliest possible time.While power cuts in Matunga were for over two hours, the supply at Mumbai Central was restored in an hour, sources said.With families unable to cook dinner or manage basic evening chores, harried residents across these affected zones appealed to civic authorities to fast-track relief and restore normal power immediately.Parts of Mulund also witnessed power cuts for some time on Saturday afternoon.
