Jaipur: The health department reviewed maternity services at the govt maternal and child health (MCH) hospital in Neem Ka Thana after a woman died at a private hospital following excessive bleeding after childbirth, triggering protests and allegations of negligence.Officials said the hospital recorded 239 deliveries between July 8 and 21, including 228 normal and 11 caesarean births, with no other maternal death reported. The hospital also handled 7,200 antenatal OPD visits, 706 admissions, 158 newborn admissions in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) and 11 emergency blood transfusions during the review period.Neem Ka Thana chief medical officer Dr Kamal Singh Shekhawat said the hospital has five obstetrics and gynaecology specialists and a staff strength of 105, providing round-the-clock services.He said high-risk pregnancies are closely monitored, antenatal tests are provided free of cost, and emergency care and blood support are available. He added that 156 anaemic pregnant women were administered Ferric Carboxymaltose (FCM) injections to treat iron deficiency anaemia.
