PUNE: A social media influencer from Sinhagad Road, who participated in a prominent Marathi reality show, was arrested by Kalepadal police for allegedly barging into the house of a 65-year-old former chief medical officer of Pune Cantonment Hospital.The influencer allegedly assaulted the doctor with sharp weapons and demanded Rs 5 lakh as extortion for allegedly publicising an event at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir on September 24.The complainant has sustained injuries and after recovering from his injuries, he lodged a complaint against the woman influencer and her 10 accomplices with the Kalepadal police station on Friday.Senior inspector Girisha Nimbalkar of Kalepadal police told TOI, “We have arrested the influencer on the charge of trespassing, extortion and assault”.According to the police, the complainant retired as the chief medical officer of Pune Cantonment Hospital in 2021 and is a member of a social foundation.The organisation conducted a function at Balgandharva Rangmandir from September 1 to 3.Neither the complainant nor the organisation had officially invited the reel star to the event, nor had anyone asked her to publicise it.However, claiming that she had publicised the event, she began demanding Rs 5 lakh from the complainant through phone calls and messages since August.On September 17, the influencer, the suspect and some others went to the complainant’s house. As he was not at home, they allegedly threatened his wife and son before leaving.On September 23, the suspect called the complainant to an eatery where thet demanded money.Next day, the influencer and others barged into his home and assaulted.
