Manoj Bajpayee, who has seamlessly moved between critically acclaimed films, big-budget projects and successful OTT shows over a career spanning more than three decades, is now set to be seen as Yogesh Murthy, better known as Masterji, in ‘Last Man in Tower’. Adapted from Booker Prize-winning author Aravind Adiga’s 2011 novel, the project sees Bajpayee take on a layered character while also performing his own action sequences.In a recent conversation with Variety India, the actor opened up about understanding Masterji, filming the physically demanding sequences himself and shared updates on the much-awaited fourth season of ‘The Family Man’.

Bajpayee’s portrayal of Srikant Tiwari in ‘The Family Man’ remains among his most popular performances. The character, an intelligence officer navigating complex cases while juggling the everyday pressures of middle-class family life, has become a fan favourite across the show’s seasons.Following the success of the third season, anticipation around the next instalment remains high. Bajpayee revealed that discussions for Season 4 are expected to begin soon, after which the script will be finalised and the cast will begin preparations.“Talks will start happening soon. It’s quite flattering that it has become such a great franchise that each and every person, be it a child or an adult, keeps asking about it. Once the conversation about the fourth season starts, the script will be finalized, and then we’ll be called in to start prepping for it and give our dates,” he said.
Manoj Bajpayee on understanding Masterji’s character
Speaking about his approach to Masterji, Bajpayee described him as a deeply principled man who refuses to compromise on his dignity. He said, “Masterji is stubborn, addicted to his principles and sticks to what he thinks is right and wrong. He is an old man without a wife who doesn’t want to compromise on his dignity at all, and the last person he wants to be hurt by is his son.”The character’s strong convictions and emotional vulnerability form a key part of the actor’s portrayal, particularly as Masterji finds himself caught in increasingly difficult circumstances.

Bajpayee also revealed that he performed all his scenes himself, including the film’s climax, without using a body double. However, the actor admitted that physically demanding sequences have become more challenging with age.“I feel a little scared doing all of these things now, after so many years. A cramp here, a nick there — my body doesn’t feel confident doing so many things. Having said that, the manner in which it is shot, it happens with complete suddenness. He is caught in this and he doesn’t know how to save himself,” he said.
