Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi urged for interlinking the Sone and Falgu rivers to resolve regional water issues during a public meeting. He also called for new degree colleges in Fatehpur, Tankuppa, and Dobhi blocks. Manjhi expressed confidence that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar could facilitate the river project, though the CM remained silent on the matter during his subsequent address.

Gaya: Union MSME minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday made a strong demand for interlinking of Sone and Falgu rivers to address water-related issues of the region. The demand was made at a public meeting held in Mayapur village under Tankuppa block of the district during the CM’s Samriddhi Yatra.Both Manjhi and Nitish shared the stage at Mayapur. The demand was made in the presence of assembly speaker Prem Kumar, Dy CM Samrat Choudhary and water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary. While making the demand, Manjhi said only Nitish can get done the work of interlinking of the river.The CM, who immediately succeeded Manjhi at the podium, throughout his long speech kept mum on the demand.Manjhi also demanded establishment of one degree college each in Fatehpur, Tankuppa and Dobhi blocks of the district. The state govt, it may be recalled, is committed to the establishment of one college in each block where higher education facility was not available at present.
