MANGALURU: The Mangaluru East Police have arrested a man for allegedly attempting to murder a person by ramming his car into a two-wheeler following a dispute over a land deal.The accused is Mohammad Sharif, 26, from Falnir, Mangaluru.According to the police, Mohan Das Shetty, 56, a resident of Mallikatte, had a financial dispute with the accused, Mohammad Sharif, and his father, Mohammad Iqbal, regarding a land transaction. It is alleged that the accused invested around Rs 2 crore in properties at Kana in Surathkal and Vamanjoor, and suspected that the complainant had cheated him in the deal.On Wednesday morning, the accused met the complainant near Arya Samaj Road under the pretext of a discussion and allegedly snatched his mobile phone.Later, when the complainant was riding his two-wheeler, the accused, in a fit of rage, allegedly drove his SUV at high speed and rammed into the two-wheeler from behind in an attempt to kill him. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Mangaluru East Police Station under sections 109, 281, 352, 351, 304(2) of the BNS. The accused will be produced before a court.
