Gurgaon: Manesar mayor Inderjeet Kaur Yadav on Thursday inspected ongoing development works in Nakhrola and Naurangpur villages, including construction of internal roads, and directed officials to ensure that prescribed construction standards were followed and projects completed within the deadline.Yadav checked the quality of material being used at the sites and reviewed the progress of the works. She warned the agencies executing the projects against lapses and said development works were being undertaken to improve public facilities.“I have instructed the agencies concerned to use construction material as per the prescribed specifications and maintain quality throughout the projects,” she said. The inspection comes amid concerns over the pace of civic development in Manesar, with meetings of Municipal Corporation of Manesar’s House and Finance and Contracts Committee (F&CC) not being held since March. The House last met on March 16, while the F&CC meeting was held on March 21.Residents said the prolonged deadlock has affected the approval and execution of development projects and delayed resolution of civic problems. Officials have attributed the deadlock to friction between the mayor and some councillors, which they said has disrupted the functioning of the civic body. Development projects worth around Rs 137 crore are currently awaiting approval.Earlier on Thursday, Yadav also inaugurated work on a stormwater drainage line in Sikanderpur Bada village to address waterlogging in the area. The project, estimated to cost around Rs 40 lakh, is aimed at improving drainage and reducing the accumulation of rainwater.Ward 19 councillor Ravi Yadav said the village and adjoining areas face severe waterlogging during the monsoon, with inundated roads becoming difficult to use.“The stormwater line will improve the drainage system of the village and help residents during the rains,” he said. The mayor also directed officials and agencies to adhere to project timelines so that residents can benefit from the completed works at the earliest.
