BENGALURU: A provocative video uploaded on social media, in which a man challenged Karnataka police to trace “25 Bangladeshis” he claimed to have sent to Bengaluru, triggered concern. He also claimed that the Bangladeshis’ targets were police officers and politicians, claiming they would barge into their houses and harm the officials’ wives and children.By Thursday evening, cybercrime police of Central Crime Branch (CCB) identified the man as Santosh Kumar from Kikkeri in Krishnarajpet in Mandya district. Kumar works as a labourer at a hotel in Dubai. Soon after police contacted him, Kumar deleted the video and uploaded another video apologising to cops.In the first video posted Thursday morning, Kumar said, “Karnataka police, if you are men, find this. I have sent 25 Bangladeshis to Bengaluru. You cannot catch anything. All these days, none of you could catch them. Do you know why I have sent them? I have targeted only policemen and politicians. They would barge into your houses. They don’t have ID cards, don’t have an address. I have made all the arrangements for them.” He went on: “Then I will give you my address and you can do whatever you want.”The video, which went viral on social media, drew attention because of the man’s provocative remarks, direct challenge to police and the references to politicians.Police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh told TOI that efforts were underway to get him deported and arrest him. He and his family were warned, he said.In the other video, he apologised for his provocative remarks. “…I was displeased because a lot of Bangladeshis are coming to Bengaluru and no action has been taken against them or to send them back to their country, so I spoke in a wrong way.”Singh warned that strict action would be taken against those who attempt to disturb peace and order or create fear among the public. Another senior officer said, Kikkeri police also registered a case against Kumar.
