Kanpur: Police arrested a theft accused in Gajner of Kanpur Dehat on Sunday. Three yellow metal bells stolen from a temple and Rs 800 in cash have been recovered from the accused. The arrest was made under a crime control campaign.The arrested accused has been identified as Akhilesh, 30, son of Jaynarayan Tiwari, a resident of Usmanpur Jamrehi, police station Gajner.During questioning, the accused admitted that he had stolen the bells from Bhole Shankar Mandir in his own village on the night of Aug 10. He was going to Moosanagar bazaar to sell the bells when the police caught him.The accused told the police in July he had stolen copper wire from a power plant near Kausam village and sold it. This cash worth Rs 800 recovered from him was the remaining money from that sale.Action is being taken to produce him before the court.
