Rourkela: Gurundia police in Sundargarh’s Bonai sub-division have arrested a 25-year-old man and his uncle for the murder of a 28-year-old Anganwadi worker on Monday, whose body was recovered from a dam on Sunday evening. The victim, Jayanti Kujur, was allegedly strangled by her husband, Laxman Oram, who later dumped her body in the Dangajore dam with help of his uncle, Gobind Oram (45). Preliminary investigations revealed that Laxman had strangled Jayanti and disposed of her body in a waterbody. On Friday morning, Laxman confronted her on her way to work. When she refused to leave Arjun, he strangled her and hid the body in a nearby forest. Later, he called his uncle and they transported the body in Dangajore dam, approximately 115 kilometers away.Based on his statement, a fire brigade team and police personnel recovered Jayanti’s body from the dam. Her body was later sent for post-mortem and handed over to her family.Police have seized the scooty used in the crime.
