Noida: A 26-year-old man died after coming in contact with a high-tension electricity line while standing near a hotel window in Badalpur on Wednesday afternoon, police said.The deceased, Gaurav, a resident of Karan Enclave, had checked into a hotel in the Badalpur police station area around 1pm. Police said a woman friend of Gaurav had come to meet him at the hotel.Around 4.15pm, as the woman was leaving, Gaurav reportedly stood near the hotel window to see her off. While doing so, he came into contact with a nearby high-tension electricity line and suffered an electric shock. He collapsed at the spot.Hotel staff and others present there informed police, following which a team reached the spot and found Gaurav unresponsive. He was declared dead.Police informed Gaurav’s parents and elder brother about the incident. His body was sent for postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.Police are also examining the circumstances of the incident, including the location of the electricity line and its proximity to the hotel building.An officer said further legal action would be taken on the basis of the postmortem report and other findings. No law-and-order issue was reported at the spot.Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to Gaurav’s death.
