Thiruvananthapuram: Malayinkeezhu grama panchayat president Niyadul Akser filed a police complaint against a salon owner for verbally abusing and threatening a woman health inspector over phone after she issued a fine against him for dumping waste in public place.The accused, Sivaprakash who runs a family salon in Tirumala, also allegedly bused panchayat secretary over the phone. According to the complaint, four plastic bags filled with hair were recently found dumped near Machel bridge. During an inspection, officials traced the address of the salon and health inspector Minikumari contacted Sivaprakash and asked him to appear before the panchayat office. Sivaprakash told the official that he would not dump waste again and sought forgiveness. Though the fine imposed on him was later reduced, he did not pay the amount. Later, he allegedly called the health inspector and threatened to kill her while also making obscene remarks, the complaint said. It further alleged that threats were also made against the inspector’s son. The panchayat has been conducting intensified inspections as part of ‘Clean Malayinkeezhu, Safe Malayinkeezhu’ campaign to identify people dumping waste in the area.
