Rajkot: A routine exchange of jokes between an uncle and nephew took a deadly turn on Sunday evening at Padvala village of Upleta taluka, leaving a 35-year-old casual labourer dead after he was allegedly stabbed by his nephew.The victim, Adreman Noida, succumbed to a fatal knife wound in the upper-left side of his chest, police said.According to the complaint filed by the victim’s elder brother, Musa Noida, the incident unfolded near a roadside water kiosk where family members and relatives were seated together on Sunday evening. The uncle and nephew, known for routinely pulling pranks and joking with one another, were interacting when an argument flared up.Investigation officer M M Thakor stated that accused Sohil Noida took offence at a joke made during the conversation. The banter escalated into a severe confrontation and in a fit of rage, Sohil allegedly struck his uncle in the chest with a knife.Moments after the assault, a bleeding Adreman ran towards his brother Musa to alert him about the attack. Relatives rushed him to the Bhayavadar govt hospital and subsequently transferred him to a private hospital in Upleta for advanced care, where attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.Bhayavadar police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the BNS against Sohil, who fled the scene after the attack.
