Lucknow: A 24-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his in-laws in the Kakori area late Monday night after he went to his wife’s village amid claims that her family was planning to marry her off elsewhere, police said.Police said the incident took place around 10 pm on Monday near an orchard on the outskirts of Lalatakheda village under the Kakori police station limits. The deceased, Ramsagar, a resident of Madhotanda in Pilibhit district, had married Kamini in Dec 2024 against the wishes of her family.

According to a complaint lodged by Ramsagar’s brother Rahul, Kamini had been staying at her parental home in Lalatakheda for some time. Her family was allegedly making preparations to solemnise her marriage to another person. On learning this, Ramsagar and Rahul went to the village to bring her back and ascertain whether she consented to the proposed marriage or was being forced.“When he reached the village, an argument broke out between Ramsagar and his in-laws, identified as Bhima Gautam, his sons Sumit and Amit, and a relative, Pankaj. The situation escalated into a physical altercation,” said SHO, Kakori, Suresh Singh.DCP (West Zone) Vishwajeet Srivastava said Sumit allegedly attacked Ramsagar with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries to his abdomen and chest. Rahul was also assaulted when he attempted to intervene. The accused fled as locals gathered at the scene.Ramsagar was rushed to the Community Health Centre in Sarojininagar, where doctors declared him dead. Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. All four named accused were detained for questioning.
