Noida: An 18-year-old man and his elder sister died and her one-month-old infant was left with a broken leg when a dumper crashed into their bike from behind on Dadri Road in Greater Noida’s Ecotech-3 on Sunday evening.The two who died were Kunal, a Faridabad resident, and his elder sister Komal (26), who was married in Badhpura village near Dadri. Komal’s infant daughter, who was travelling with them, was injured in the crash and is being treated at a nearby hospital.Police said the accident occurred around 6.30pm when Kunal had come to Greater Noida to take his sister back to her parental home in Faridabad. The siblings were riding on Dadri Road with the baby when the speeding dumper slammed into their motorcycle from behind.“Both the brother and sister fell onto the road and came under the dumper’s wheels. They died before they could be rushed to a hospital,” a police officer said. The baby, who was in her mother’s lap, survived but suffered a fracture in one leg.After a PCR call to 112, a team from Ecotech-3 police station reached the spot and rushed the child to hospital. Doctors said she is under observation.Police said the dumper driver was arrested on the spot and the vehicle seized. A case was registered on the family’s complaint under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and other relevant provisions. “The accused driver has been arrested. We have initiated an investigation into the sequence of events,” a senior officer said.
