T’puram: Neyyattinkara fast-track Pocso court-II sentenced an Anthiyoor native to 75 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy in 2023. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.90 lakh on the accused, Achu Achu, 26.Judge K Prasanna pronounced the sentence. The court directed the accused to undergo an additional two years and seven months’ imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.According to the prosecution case, the incident occurred when the accused allegedly called the six-year-old boy on the pretext of feeding a rabbit. The child was taken to the accused’s house, where he was subjected to sexual assault. Based on the boy‘s statement, the accused was arrested by Balaramapuram Police later.The prosecution produced evidence before the court to establish the charges against the accused.Sreekanth Mishra and T Vijayakumar, who had served as inspectors at Balaramapuram police station conducted the investigation, submitted the charge sheet before the court.Special public prosecutor Vellarada Santhosh Kumar appeared for the prosecution. Assistant SI Shyamala Devi and CPO Janish assisted the prosecution as liaison officers during the proceedings.
