Kanpur: An additional sessions court on Friday convicted a man for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and sentenced him to seven years of rigorous imprisonment in a nine-year-old case. The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the accused.The court also convicted two co-accused in the case for causing simple hurt and sentenced them to six months of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1,000 each.According to assistant district government counsel, Sanjay Kumar Jha, complainant Raju Yadav, a resident of village Pratappur under Narval police station, lodged an FIR on Mar 11, 2017, in which he stated that his two sons, Rahul and Kamal, were ambushed by the accused near an agricultural field.He said the accused, armed with lathis, sticks and an axe, brutally attacked his sons, during which one of them, Rahul, died while undergoing treatment.The ADGC said that a cross-case was also registered in the matter. In that case, two accused, Raju Yadav and Mahendra Singh, were found guilty under Section 323 IPC (causing simple injuries) and were sentenced to six months of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1,000 each.The accused will have to undergo an additional one month of imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine amount, court said.
