Bettiah: A man allegedly killed his 40-year-old son with a spear over a long-running land dispute at Bhitaha-Mathia village under the Bairia police station area in West Champaran district on Friday morning. Two other sons were seriously injured in the attack, police said.The deceased was identified as Vijay Patel, 40. The injured, identified as his brothers Akhilesh Patel, 38, and Kamlesh Patel, 35, have been admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Bettiah, where they are undergoing treatment.According to the victim’s mother, her husband, Suresh Patel, along with their elder son, Ajay Patel, and his children, carried out the attack. She alleged that the dispute arose from a long-standing disagreement over the division of family property, with the father unwilling to give a share of land to his younger son.She said tensions escalated on Friday morning when Suresh and Ajay allegedly blocked the pathway in front of the house, triggering an argument that quickly turned violent. During the altercation, Vijay was allegedly attacked with an iron spear and died on the spot. His brothers, who tried to intervene, were also injured.Following the incident, the accused father, elder brother and nephews fled. Bettiah SDPO-2 Rajnish Priyadarshi said the incident took place over a land dispute between family members. “A clash broke out between the father and son, leading to the death of one person. Police have launched an investigation and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused,” he said.
