Rajkot: A 46-year-old man was stabbed to death on the Ugamedi-Ningala road in Gadhada taluka of Botad on Thursday over suspicions that he was having an affair with the accused’s wife.Police arrested the 39-year-old accused within hours of the murder.The deceased was identified as Dinesh Sagathiya, a resident of Bhimdad village and a labour contractor working on check dam projects.According to the complaint filed by Dinesh’s 27-year-old son Arvind at Gadhada police station, the accused, Haresh Parmar, suspected that Dinesh was having an illicit relationship with his wife.Dinesh had gone towards Ugamedi for work on the morning of Aug 27. When he was on the Ugamedi-Ningala road, Parmar intercepted him near Randal Circle.The two had quarrelled over the issue at Turakha village around three months ago. After that dispute, Parmar’s wife ostensibly left him and went to stay at her parents’ home in Lakhanka village. Parmar suspected she continued to meet Dinesh.Police said Parmar attacked Dinesh with a bladed weapon, stabbing him in the chest and abdomen. Dinesh was rushed to Gadhada government hospital in a 108 ambulance, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.Police sub-inspector J R Herma said police were collecting evidence, including the weapon used in the murder.
