New Delhi: A 24-year-old man died, while two others were injured after a DTC bus collided with their scooter in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh on Saturday evening.Sonu, who was riding the scooter, died on the spot. The two pillion riders are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.The accident took place around 6pm, near the Jai Vihar drain, on Najafgarh-Nangloi Road. Police said they found a damaged DTC bus and scooter at the spot after receiving information about the incident.According to police, one of the injured men told investigators that he, Sonu and another friend were travelling from UER-II towards Najafgarh-Nangloi Road when a DTC bus heading towards Kamruddin Nagar hit the two-wheeler. The scooter fell after the impact, and Sonu came under the bus’s rear wheel.The driver stopped the bus a short distance away but fled after a crowd gathered. Locals allegedly pelted the bus with stones and smashed its windows. The conductor and 10-12 passengers were on board at the time.Police have seized the bus and scooter and registered a case at Baba Haridas Nagar police station. CCTV footage is being analysed to trace the driver. Police are also trying to identify those involved in pelting stones.The incident comes days after a 12-year-old girl was run over by a DTC bus in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar on Friday. Residents had allegedly pelted stones after that accident as well.
