Guwahati: A 26-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after jumping into the Brahmaputra at Khankar picnic spot on Saturday morning.Police said the man jumped into the river at around 10 am and his body was recovered about two hours later. The deceased has been identified as Kaushik Medhi.Police suspect a love angle, though further investigation is underway.According to police officials, Medhi jumped into a deep section of the river where the water level is estimated to be around 30 to 50 feet. Bystanders tried to deter him from jumping but could not. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and recovered his body.A case has been registered at Pragjyotishpur Police Station and police are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident.
