Gurgaon: A 52-year-old man who suffered critical injuries in a road accident near Khandsa vegetable market on March 7 died on Monday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.Police identified the deceased as Vijendra, who lived in rented accommodation in Annapurna Vihar near Sarhaul Mor in Sector 18. According to a complaint filed by his son, Bambam Kumar, at Civil Lines police station, Vijendra had gone to Khandsa vegetable market around 6am on March 7 to buy vegetables. Around 10am, Bambam received a call from his father’s mobile phone informing him that he had met with an accident and had been admitted to Kalyani Hospital in Sector 14. When Bambam reached the hospital, staff told him that his father had been brought there by the driver of a vehicle. Bambam later contacted the driver using the phone number provided by the hospital, but the driver denied responsibility for the accident. In his complaint, Bambam alleged that the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving and sought legal action against the driver. Police said they received a medico-legal report related to the injured man from Sector 14 police station and visited the hospital to record Vijendra’s statement. However, doctors informed them that he was unconscious, on mechanical ventilation and not in a condition to give a statement. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under sections 125(A) (act endangering life) and 281 (rash driving) of BNS. After Vijendra’s death on Monday, section 106 (death by negligence) was added to the FIR. Meanwhile, in another accident in Faridabad, a 13-year-old boy died and his elder brother was injured after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the YMCA flyover on Sunday night. Police said the boys, Rehan (16) and Arsh (13), had left their home in Adarsh Nagar, Ballabgarh, around 8.30pm on March 8 to go towards Bata Chowk when the accident occurred around 9pm. “Arsh died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Rehan was taken to a hospital for treatment,” an officer said. Based on a complaint filed by their father, Salim Khan, police registered a case under sections 106 and 281 of BNS against an unknown driver.
