Noida: A late-night argument over honking spiralled into assault in Greater Noida West early on Feb 15, leaving a man with a skull fracture and several others injured, police said.In his complaint, Ayush Singh, a resident of Amrapali Leisure Park, said he was heading out for dinner with four friends around 1am when they found a Verna parked in the middle of the road near the society gate, blocking their way. Singh said he honked to ask the driver to move, which allegedly angered two occupants of the car, identified as Azeem and Shahrukh.What began as a verbal exchange quickly escalated. Singh alleged the two men intercepted him and his friends outside the society.A third man, Firoz, later joined the accused, he claimed. The trio, he said, were armed with baseball bats and hockey sticks and smashed the windows of Singh’s Creta and damaged the vehicle with repeated blows before turning on the group. Vedant, one of Singh’s friends, sustained severe head injuries and collapsed unconscious at the spot. The assailants allegedly abused the group and issued death threats before fleeing.Singh and his friends alerted the police by dialling 112. Vedant was first taken to Yatharth Hospital, before being referred to Manipal Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries. Doctors confirmed he had suffered a skull fracture and remains under treatment.Police from Bisrakh police station later arrested Shahrukh of Ghaziabad and Azeem of Amroha, from a road connecting Char Murti to ATS. Officers recovered the Verna, along with a baseball bat and a stick. Both accused were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.SHO Krishna Gopal Sharma said a case has been registered under BNS sections 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 324(4) (mischief causing damage to property).
