Lucknow: Choosing reconciliation over confrontation, a PRD personnel in Malihabad chose to step aside and helped his wife marry her lover after she refused to return to her marital home, bringing an end to hours of emotional drama at a police station.The incident came to light after the woman, who got married to the PRD jawan in May last year, allegedly left her in-laws’ house a few days ago without informing her family. When repeated efforts to trace her failed, her husband approached Malihabad police and lodged a missing report.The case took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when the woman arrived at Malihabad police station along with her lover. According to police, the two had been in a relationship before her marriage. Her arrival triggered a tense confrontation as members of both her parental and marital families gathered at the police station.For several hours, relatives tried to convince the woman to return to her husband and resume married life. However, she remained firm in her decision and repeatedly expressed her desire to live with her lover.With reconciliation efforts failing, the husband accepted his wife’s decision and agreed to end the relationship by mutual consent. Before parting ways, he reportedly asked her to remain loyal to the man she had chosen. The couple later went to a nearby temple, where they got married and left together.Malihabad Inspector Surendra Bhati said both families eventually accepted the woman’s decision. “The matter was resolved through mutual consent. No complaint has been filed by either party,” he said.
