Mangaluru: Bantwal Rural police arrested a Bengaluru resident and seized MDMA, cocaine and other property valued at Rs 1 crore during a vehicle check on Sunday. The accused was identified as Mohammed Ameer Jartab, 35, a resident of Kengeri.According to SI Manjunath T, received a tip-off that narcotics were being transported from Hassan towards Mangaluru. Acting on the information, a police team intercepted a car. During questioning, the driver allegedly admitted to transporting narcotics in the vehicle. A search of the car led to the seizure of 538.6g of MDMA and 99.1g of cocaine, besides empty plastic containers, a digital weighing scale and other items.Police estimated the value of MDMA at Rs 53.8 lakh and the cocaine at Rs 49.5 lakh. The total value of the seized drugs, vehicle and other property was put at Rs 1,05,59,450. A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural police station under Sections 8(c) read with 22(c) and 21(b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Further investigation is under way.
