Kanpur: Police on Friday arrested a 47-year-old man near Badausa railway station in connection with the Sept 3 seizure of codeine-based syrup worth Rs 3 crore in Banda.Investigating officer, Gaurav Mishra said the accused, Ravindra Gupta, had been evading the police for the past 22 days. He said that Gupta switched off his mobile phone, repeatedly changed hideouts and travelled about 1,000 km by train and bus.“More than a dozen mobile numbers were kept under surveillance and raids were conducted at about 25 locations, including Hamirpur, Mahoba, Fatehpur, Kanpur and Agra to arrest the accused,” Mishra said.He added that Gupta would learn of planned raids and move to another hideout before teams arrived.
