Chennai: A man who opened actor Varun’s car using a duplicate key and stole diamond and gold jewellery, a laptop and a wristwatch last month, was arrested by Mylapore police on Sunday.Police said Varun visited Mylapore last month to attend a wedding and parked his car on the roadside. After the event, he found his car door open. A gold chain, diamond jewellery, a laptop, and an expensive wristwatch, together worth several lakhs of rupees, were missing.Varun lodged a complaint with Mylapore police. Investigators collected CCTV footage from the area and identified the suspect as Jalaluddin, 49, of Washermanpet. He was arrested and some of the stolen valuables were recovered from him.During the investigation, police found that Jalaluddin had previously targeted cars using duplicate keys. He was involved in crime cases reported in the city.
