Shivamogga: Shivamogga district police have arrested a man in connection with a brutal assault on another man using an iron rod near Avuka Circle, close to Garthikere village in Hosanagar taluk.The accused, identified as Raghavendra alias Apple Raghu, allegedly launched a violent attack on Manjunath. Armed with an iron rod, Raghu is said to have repeatedly struck Manjunath, causing severe injuries to his legs and other parts of his body.A 1-minute and 26-second video of the incident went viral, triggering widespread public outrage. In the footage, captured by onlookers, Raghu can be seen mercilessly beating Manjunath as he lay helpless on the road. After allegedly fracturing his limbs, Raghu placed his foot on Manjunath’s head in an act of humiliation before dragging him to the side of the road, police said.Following the circulation of the video, police launched a manhunt and apprehended Raghu.“The accused has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered. We are investigating the motive behind the attack and whether there was any prior dispute between the two individuals,” Shivamogga SP B Nikhil said.Manjunath sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Shivamogga, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
