T’puram: Puthoor Police took Sunilkumar, 41, into custody for allegedly killing his 30-year-old friend following a heated argument at Kottathala, Kottarakkara, on Wednesday.The deceased is Adarsh of Moozhikkode.According to the police, Adarsh and Sunilkumar had been drinking together at Sunilkumar’s house when a heated argument broke out. Sunilkumar had been staying alone. During the argument, Sunilkumar allegedly took a machete and attacked Adarsh, fatally hacking him. The incident occurred between 6pm and 11.30pm, police said.The police said the quarrel was triggered after Adarsh allegedly referred to Sunilkumar as an ‘outsider’.After the murder, Sunilkumar left the house and headed towards his sister’s residence in Kottathala. While on the way, he reportedly informed the police control room about the incident. The police then reached the house and found Adarsh lying dead.The police recovered the machete believed to have been used in the attack. The police team is recording statements of people acquainted with the two men and is investigating the exact sequence of events leading to the murder.The body was shifted for postmortem, according to the police.A formal case has been registered, and further investigation is under way.
