Bathinda: A 32-year-old man was found lying dead on a street with a syringe stuck in his arm on Sunday in Bathinda district.Members of Naujawan Welfare Society found Ramesh Kumar unconscious next to his motorcycle in Paras Ram Nagar locality and took him to Bathinda civil hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, NGO president Sonu Maheshwari said.The incident triggered criticism from opposition leaders. Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal posted a picture of the scene on social media, accusing chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s administration of failing to curb the drug trade and demanding govt accountability.Bathinda SSP Suhail Qasim Mir said he visited the spot and the family of the victim. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the post-mortem and histopathology reports, Mir said. Police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
