Gorakhpur: A man allegedly shot dead his sister-in-law before killing himself in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar on Wednesday morning. Police said the accused had arrived at his in-laws’ house in Tamkuhiraj area from Bihar on a motorcycle and called the girl to his room.Police said that Jitendra Prajapati (27), resident of Gopalganj district, Bihar, first shot his 18-year-old sister-in-law Naina Kumari in the temple at point-blank range and later turned the gun on himself. Sources said Prajapati married Naina’s elder sister nine months ago started an affair with Naina.Family members rushed to the room on hearing gunshots but found the door locked from inside. When they peeped through a window, they saw both lying in a pool of blood. Police broke open the door and sent the bodies for postmortem.Police said Prajapati had reached his in-laws’ house around 7 am and was welcomed by the family. About an hour later, he called Naina into a room. A country-made pistol was recovered from the spot. Officials said forensic evidence was collected and further investigation is underway.CO Jayant Yadav said, “Action will be taken based on the complaint filed by the family. Forensic teams collected evidence from the room as part of the investigation.”
