Ahmedabad: A 34-year-old man died after a car allegedly rammed into his motorcycle near the Ognaj-Lapkaman Crossroads on Saturday morning. The accused driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. A complaint was filed with A-division traffic police on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Bhanwarlal Gurjar, a resident of Ognaj who ran a scrap business near LML School. According to the complaint lodged by his uncle, Ladu Gurjar, 48, a scrap trader residing in Tragad, the accident took place around 9.40am on Feb 21 near Lalji Mehrotra Lions School Crossroads.
Police said Bhanwarlal left his warehouse around 9.30am on a motorcycle to purchase ice from Gota. When he reached the crossroads, a hatchback car coming from the SP Ring Road side allegedly hit his bike. The impact threw him onto the road, causing head injuries and injuries to his ribs and left hand.A relative, Sukhlal Gurjar, who reached the spot, shifted him to Sola Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance. Doctors declared him dead at 11.25am during treatment. The complainant stated that Bhanwarlal was unconscious and bleeding from the head, ears, and mouth when taken to the hospital.Police said the car driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and escaped. An offence was registered for causing death by negligence, rash driving, and damaging property. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and tracing the registered owner of the car.
