Erode: A 27-year-old daily wage labourer was killed after a portion of an old concrete water tank collapsed on him while demolishing the structure near Bhavanisagar here on Saturday.The Bhavanisagar police identified the deceased as Chinnaraj, of Vellalapalayam near Thoppampalayam in their jurisdiction. According to a police officer, the incident took place when Chinnaraj was demolishing the old concrete water tank at Puliyampatty main water supply station along with four other workers. “Suddenly, a portion of the concrete tank collapsed on him. Chinnaraj was trapped under the debris and succumbed to his head injuries on the spot,” the officer said. When alerted, police sent the body to a govt hospital for postmortem. Police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
