Aurangabad: A recovery agent was shot dead inside an Indian Bank branch in Aurangabad district on Friday after a firearm carried by the branch’s security guard went off under mysterious circumstances. The incident took place around 10.30am at the bank’s Uchauli branch under Madanpur police station area.Rajendra Paswan, a recovery agent and resident of Madhav Khap village, was critically injured after being hit by a bullet allegedly fired from the double-barrel gun of security guard Abhay Kumar Singh. He was declared dead at a govt hospital in Madanpur.Family members alleged the guard deliberately opened fire, while the guard claimed the weapon discharged accidentally during cleaning.Madanpur SHO Rajesh Kumar said police had taken the guard into custody and seized the firearm. “An FIR is being registered on the basis of the complaint submitted by the deceased’s family members. The exact circumstances leading to the firing are being investigated,” Rajesh said.Police are probing whether the firing was accidental or intentional.
