Jaipur: Traffic was disrupted at Badi Chaupar Monday afternoon after a man climbed onto the roof of his car and began shouting slogans while smoking a cigarette.According to police, the man parked his vehicle in the middle of the road and stood on its roof carrying two large boxes filled with cigarettes and bidis. He started shouting, demanding a ban on tobacco products, even as he was seen smoking.His actions soon drew the attention of passers-by, and a crowd gathered at the busy intersection. With the vehicle blocking the road, traffic slowed down and a brief jam developed in the area.Police personnel present at the spot tried to persuade the man to come down, but he continued shouting for some time. Eventually, two policemen brought him down from the vehicle and took him into custody.Manak Chowk Police Station SHO Rakesh Khayaliya said the incident occurred around 3pm.“We took the man, identified as Varun Johari, into custody for stopping his vehicle on the road, creating a disturbance and obstructing traffic,” Khayaliya said. “Ironically, while he was shouting against the harmful effects of cigarettes and bidis, he was himself smoking on the roof of the car.”Police also seized the vehicle used in the incident. The man was later produced before a magistrate and released, though the car remains impounded, the officer added.
