Ahmedabad: A grocery shop owner in Chandkheda has alleged that a man vandalised his store and assaulted him after a dispute erupted when a customer was told that milk was out of stock.According to the FIR, complainant Khumansinh Rathod (24), who runs provision store in Vindhyachal Nagar in Chandkheda with his younger brother Mahendrasinh Rathod, was speaking to his mother over a video call around 9.45pm on Wednesday when he heard an argument outside the shop.Police said Mahendrasinh had informed a woman customer that milk was unavailable. After she left, Mehul Zapadia, who was standing nearby, allegedly questioned why the shop did not stock milk and began attacking and abusing Mahendrasinh. When Khumansinh intervened, Zapadia allegedly pushed him and continued hurling abuses. The dispute was briefly resolved after landlord Kanu Patel and local residents intervened.The complaint alleges that Zapadia returned a short while later carrying a knife-like weapon. The two brothers stepped outside the shop, after which Zapadia allegedly knocked over a refrigerator, threw grocery items outside and caused damage estimated at Rs 25,000. He also allegedly threatened to kill the brothers if they confronted him again before his family members took him away.Khumansinh later called the 112 emergency helpline, following which police reached the spot. Chandkheda police registered a case against Zapadia under BNS sections for causing hurt, criminal intimidation, mischief causing damage and other offences.
