Pune: A man allegedly barged into a hospital in Yerawada on Wednesday night and threatened a medical practitioner (75) with a sharp weapon and demanded Rs 50,000.He also threatened the hospital staff and relatives of patients before fleeing the spot. The 75-year-old medical practitioner lodged a complaint with the Laxminagar police, who then registered a case against the suspect under Section 308 (extortion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act on Thursday.An officer from the Laxminagar police said the suspect is a resident of Jai Jawan Nagar in Yerawada, where the hospital is also located.“On Wednesday night, the suspect barged into the hospital brandishing a sharp weapon. He threatened the complainant with dire consequences and demanded Rs 50,000. He also threatened the hospital staff and relatives of patients before stepping outside and threatening people on the road,” the officer said.“We are investigating the case,” he said.
