Rajkot: A 48-year-old woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband following a domestic dispute in Simar Wadi area of Una taluka in Gir Somnath district on Sunday afternoon.The deceased, Laxmi Dabhi, was attacked around noon while she was preparing food in the kitchen. Police said her husband, Jaga Dabhi, allegedly struck her 4-5 times on the head with an iron rod during an argument.According to the complaint lodged by the couple’s 30-year-old son, Dinesh Dabhi, at Navabandar Marine police station, tensions flared at home when he was away. On returning, he saw his father running out of the kitchen. Hearing commotion, he rushed inside and found his mother lying in a pool of blood.Family members present at the house told police that the couple had been arguing, during which Jaga allegedly accused his wife of infidelity. In a fit of rage, he reportedly assaulted her with the iron rod before fleeing the spot.Laxmi was rushed to the govt hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her body was later sent to Una govt hospital for postmortem.Dinesh stated in his complaint that his father had been harbouring suspicions about his mother’s character for the past 10-12 days, leading to frequent quarrels. Despite attempts by family members to resolve the disputes, the situation escalated fatally.Police have registered an offence of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched a manhunt to trace the accused.
