Patna: A 48-year-old man beat his mother to death following a heated argument between them in Paliganj sub-division area of Patna district on Sunday. The incident took place at Banauli village under Khirimor police station area. A quarrel occurred between Satyendra Ram and his mother, Jethani Devi, over household affairs. In anger, he thrashed his mother to death.The accused, who was trying to escape after the murder, was caught by the locals and handed over to the police. According to villagers, he had murdered his wife in 2017 by cutting her throat. Following his release from prison in Nov 2024 after completing his sentence, Satyendra returned to his home. Local residents said that the accused was suffering from mental illness and frequently engaged in disputes with his mother.The police sent the deceased’s body to a govt hospital for postmortem. SHO, Praveen Kumar, said, “Police reached the village and arrested the accused, Satyendra,” he said.
