Mohali: A lawyer was allegedly attacked with a nail-studded stick by his neighbour following a dispute over feeding stray dogs in Aerocity area of Zirakpur. Police have registered a case against the accused.According to the complaint filed at Zirakpur police station, the victim, Tanuj Malhotra, a resident of G-Block, Aerocity, alleged that his neighbour, Kulbir Saini, nursed a grudge against him over feeding stray dogs near the locality. Malhotra said the accused often claimed that he fed stray dogs near his house and frequently abused and threatened him. He claimed that he repeatedly clarified that he did not feed dogs near the residence of the accused, but the disputes continued.On Feb 26, when Malhotra was on his way home after feeding stray dogs in the area, Saini allegedly stopped him, leading to an argument.During the altercation, the accused allegedly went inside his house and returned with a long stick fitted with sharp nails. Malhotra alleged that the accused attempted to strike him on the head with the stick. While trying to defend himself, he raised his hand, and the blow landed on his hand, causing injury. The complainant alleged that the accused attacked him again with the same stick, injuring his arm, while continuing to hurl abuses and threatening to kill him. Following the incident, Malhotra underwent a medical examination at the civil hospital. After receiving the medical reports, ASI Balraj Singh said that a case was registered against Kulbir Saini under relevant sections of BNS. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area.
