KRISHNAGIRI: A 49-year-old man was brutally attacked with a hammer and a dagger by his son-in-law following a family dispute near Krishnagiri on Tuesday. The man, identified as K Anandhan of Kannadahalli village, suffered severe facial injuries in the assault by his son-in-law, Chandrasekaran, 32, of Bargur.According to police, Anandhan’s daughter, Keerthana, 28, married Chandrasekaran six years ago. The couple have a daughter. Due to marital differences, Keerthana left Chandrasekaran six months ago and has been at her father’s house with her daughter.On Tuesday, Chandrasekaran arrived at Anandhan’s house and demanded that his daughter be sent with him. Soon a heated argument followed. “As the altercation escalated, Chandrasekaran picked up a hammer he was carrying and struck his father-in-law violently on the back,” said an officer at the Mathur police station. He then stabbed Anandhan above his right eyebrow with a dagger.Anandhan collapsed. He was rushed to Mathur Government Hospital. After first aid, he was sent to a private hospital in Krishnagiri.Based on a complaint lodged by Anandhan, the Mathur police registered a case and launched an intensive manhunt for the absconding Chandrasekaran.CCTV footage of the brutal attack has surfaced online.
