Chatra: A man was arrested while attempting to smuggle opium on Wednesday. The accused Bhikhari Ganjhu, a resident of Hootru village, was carrying 2.35 kg opium in a motorcycle without a number plate when he was intercepted near Tevna by a team from the Lawalong police station.Besides opium, Rs 17,050 in cash and a mobile was recovered from him during the searches. The seized opium costs more than Rs 2 lakh, police said. Simaria sub-divisional police officer Shubham Khandelwal that an FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. “He has been sent to judicial custody,” he said.
