Nagpur: An FIR has been registered at Sadar police station after a 32-year-old man alleged that he was forcibly pulled into an auto-rickshaw near Liberty Chowk, beaten with a baton and robbed of Rs3,000 in cash by persons linked to a woman with whom he had a money dispute.As per the complaint, Suraj Ashok Singh of Gittikhadan had a friendly relationship since 2021 with a 32-year-old woman married to a Bhandara resident. She borrowed money from Suraj but when he pressed for repayment, she allegedly registered a molestation case against him at Gittikhadan police station.Singh obtained bail and went to Raipur for work, during which he claimed the woman and two others threatened him on the phone.On Aug 18, Singh was returning home on a friend’s two-wheeler from Sitabuldi when five to seven persons pulled him into an autorickshaw and took him towards Mayo Hospital. The accused Durga Prasad Pande (55) and Pradeep Durga Prasad Pande (28) of Deepak Nagar, Katol Road, along with the woman, allegedly told the assailants on speakerphone to beat him.Sadar police first recorded a non-cognisable offence. On a miscellaneous criminal application, a magistrate on Aug 11 directed registration of a cognisable case. An FIR has now been registered.
