Ghaziabad: A 26-year-old man was allegedly abducted from outside his house in Loni Border and brutally assaulted by his girlfriend’s family members on Wednesday morning. He was rescued about three hours later and admitted to hospital, where his condition was stable. Police said the accused lived in the same neighbourhood. The complainant, Mukesh Thakur, told cops that his son Sandeep Kumar had been in a relationship with his neighbour Devendra Giri’s daughter for several years. Around 8am on Wednesday, the woman came to Thakur’s house to tell Kumar that her parents were pressuring her into getting married to someone else. Giri later called Kumar to ask about his daughter’s whereabouts, and Kumar allegedly told him to come pick her up.Giri, his sons Tanishq and Mayank, and a family member named Sumit arrived with a few others around 9:30 am and barged into Thakur’s home, demanding Giri’s daughter return with them. When she refused, Giri allegedly slapped her several times.Kumar objected and was subsequently dragged outside by the accused and beaten before both he and Giri’s daughter were forced into their car. Kumar’s mother and a neighbour tried to stop them but failed after the accused allegedly tried to run them over with their car.“The car also hit the boundary of our house, causing its bonnet to fall off. They left the motorcycle at the spot and escaped in the car. My wife and neighbours informed the police, who formed teams to rescue my son. Around 12:30 pm, cops informed me they found him and he had been brought to a hospital for treatment,” Thakur said.Kumar sustained severe injuries on his back and legs and fractured one of his hands.DCP (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said that several teams were formed to locate Kumar once police received information about the incident. Other police stations and neighbouring districts were also alerted.“With the help of surveillance, we got the location of the accused at Banthala flyover in Loni and more than 15 police personnel were sent to rescue Kumar. After seeing cops, the accused escaped into the forest area, leaving the victim behind. He was sent to the hospital and police have recovered the car used in the crime,” the DCP said.An FIR has been registered against Giri, Tanishq, Mayank and Sumit Giri under BNS Section 140 (2) (kidnapping) at Loni Border police station. “Five teams have been formed to nab the accused and cops are also checking the CCTV cameras of the area as well,” the DCP added.
