Panchkula: The Panchkula police have begun the second phase of the Majri Chowk barricade trial with revised timings, as authorities continue to assess traffic conditions before deciding on its permanent removal. The trial follows a demand by representatives of various resident welfare associations (RWAs), who recently met police commissioner Pankaj Nain and urged the removal of the barricade at the busy junction.Police said the objective is to observe actual traffic movement, congestion levels and road safety implications before taking a final decision.DCP (crime and traffic) Amrinder Singh said during the first phase, the barricade remained open from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm. Based on observations and traffic analysis, the timings have now been revised.Under the second phase, the barricade will remain open from 11am to 4pm and 8pm to 8am.Officials said the revised schedule will enable a broader assessment of traffic conditions during different periods of the day. Throughout the trial, police will monitor traffic volume, vehicle movement, congestion, road safety and accident risks before deciding whether the barricade should be removed permanently.
