Kanpur: A 32-year-old woman allegedly murdered by her husband in Mahoba’s Bijrari village was eight months pregnant with twins, both of whom also died, a postmortem examination has revealed. The incident occurred on Saturday, after which the accused, Haneef (35), allegedly tried to mislead police by claiming that the woman died during a robbery attempt. However, the couple’s four-year-old son told police, “Papa killed mom.”Police said Hanif lived in Bijrari village with his wife, Manisha Mansuri, and their two children. Late on Saturday, he allegedly returned home heavily intoxicated and began arguing with his wife over an issue. When Manisha objected, he allegedly lost control and repeatedly attacked her on the head and neck with a sickle kept nearby, killing her on the spot.After the incident, Hanif allegedly dialled 112 and falsely claimed that an unidentified person had killed his wife.Following the child’s statement, police arrested the accused and questioned him. Based on his identification, police recovered the sickle allegedly used in the murder and blood-stained clothes.On the complaint of the deceased’s brother, police registered a case against the accused under charges including dowry murder and other relevant sections.SHO Praveen Kumar Singh confirmed that the woman was eight months pregnant with twins and that both unborn children died along with her. “We presented the accused before the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody. The investigation into the case is ongoing,” Singh said.
