Mumbai: The BJP-led government in Maharashtra suffered a major embarrassment after the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET), scheduled for Sunday, was postponed when it emerged that the question paper had been leaked.
The Maharashtra State Examination Council said the TET 2026 examination had been postponed to maintain the transparency and integrity of the examination process. The development came after the Bhiwandi police, acting on confidential information, arrested a few individuals who were found in possession of the question paper. The police then called MSEC officials to verify whether the paper was meant for Sunday’s examination. After confirmation, a criminal case was registered at the Bhiwandi police station.
“Another paper leak. Another exam cancelled. This time, Maharashtra’s TET. The country’s education and examination system has been turned into a system of extortion, leaving every youth in the country vulnerable. This isn’t just a paper leak, this is theft of the youth’s future”, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said on X.
