MUMBAI: A day after Maharashtra Public Service Commission cancelled the recruitment process conducted for the posts of drug inspectors in the FDA department, NCP-SP MLA Rohit Pawar alleged that the question paper of the exam conducted in March was sold for Rs 40 lakh each to candidates and demanded an inquiry. Rohit Pawar has also sought the resignation of MPSC chairperson Vivek Bhimanwar.BJP MLA Abhimanyu Pawar said he had met CM Fadnavis in connection with the alleged paper leak and added that the CM has assured a thorough probe and strict action against those responsible.MPSC officials said existing candidates will not have to re-apply or pay any additional fee for the re-examination, the dates for which will be announced soon.Rohit Pawar alleged the paper was sold through a network of agents operating across the state, which MPSC was aware of. “The leak is a serious issue concerning MPSC’s credibility. When a paper leak happened in 1997, the chairperson of MPSC was held accountable and sent to jail. The govt should decide what to do about this, but when we go to meet the commission on Sept 1, we expect to see a new chairperson, who is of impeccable character,” said Rohit Pawar.(Inputs from PTI)
