Nagpur: The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), tasked with rectifying the flawed design of the controversial Kawrapeth flyover, is awaiting key approvals before commencing work.After TOI exposed the design deficiencies, the issue was raised in the State legislative assembly by city legislators. PWD minister Shivendra Singh Raje Bhosale, on July 17, 2025, assured that widening work at three junctions would be undertaken for Rs 20.84 crore to ease congestion and improve safety.Subsequently, MRIDC (Maharail) was appointed as the executing agency for the rectification. Officials said the corporation has begun planning improvements to streamline traffic movement.The General Arrangement Drawing (GAD), prepared in line with site conditions, has been submitted to the Public Works Department (PWD) for approval. “Once the necessary clearance is received, the design process will move to the next stage,” an official said.The project is being overseen by MRIDC’s technical team under managing director Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, with a focus on addressing both design and safety concerns.
